At Quanterra Systems we believe in the transformative power of data for healthy management of the environment.  We offer high quality, affordable, site-specific atmospheric monitoring of ecosystem fluxes of carbon, water and energy.  These data enable informed land and supply chain management, and trustworthy monitoring for carbon projects.

Our approach

Our monitoring services provide unparalleled insight into the productivity and efficiency of ecosystems, without the hassle and complexity of operating your own systems.

Our solutions incorporate our deep understanding of atmospheric fluxes, and wider expertise in environmental monitoring, to deploy and operate flux stations on your project.  We undertake expert analysis of the data generated, working with you to understand your use case, and providing you with the data needed to gain site-specific insight.

Site-specific carbon monitoring

Ecosystems are complex, with many factors controlling the carbon and water exchange. Grassland at your site doesn’t necessarily behave the same way as grassland many hundreds of miles away, yet most models assume that they do. This means that even in the age of AI, to build good models we need good data, measured on-site.  Soil cores and remote sensing have a role to play, but directly and continuously monitored flows of carbon and water provide rich, field scale information to optimise your land management.

We can provide a network of flux stations to monitor your project, or work with partners to incorporate other measurement technologies for a more holistic approach to monitoring, reporting and verification.

  • Accurate

Our system deployments are expertly planned and operated, and our data processing draws on cutting edge research, resulting in high quality measurement you can be confident in.
  • Continuous

Our stations monitor water and carbon flows continuously, resulting in measures of evapotranspiration and carbon emission or sequestration every 30 minutes.
  • Affordable

Our ‘as-a-service’ model is much less expensive than managing your own hardware, logistics and data processing, resulting in accessible atmospheric flux monitoring for a wide range of uses.
